A typical (or not so typical) day in the work-life for you:
My mornings give me the chance to work one-on-one with a variety of personal training clients. They range from busy moms to executives to endurance athletes, who all want to perform and feel better. Afternoons consist of group exercise classes online, writing articles and coaching groups of clients through bootcamphub.com.

How did you get your current job in fitness and exercise?
Honestly, l was coming out of bad work experience with a big box gym and was considering a career change when I found an ad on Craigslist for Lean Personal Training. I met the owner and we hit it off. We share the same vision for functional training and a holistic approach to health and wellness.

What skills were you born with and what skills have you learned along the way?
I think most of my skills have been learned. As an introvert, I've learned to talk to everybody about anything. I returned to school for a MS in Exercise Science to become a better trainer. I've learned to keep my energy high through proper diet, rest and exercise. The only thing that has come naturally is an fascination with how the human body works.

What advice do you have for others wanting to be just as successful and fulfilled as you?
Never stop learning, number one. Second, understand that working in this field is about people. You have to desire to help others, which often has nothing to do with helping them to lose weight. The emotional intelligence factor might be the most important part of working in the health and wellness profession.

If you could be paid for your job with something other than a paycheck, what would it be?
Seeing the lives of people change (cliche, I know) is very gratifying.
