10 Tips to Kickstart Your Fitness Career as a New Graduate

You just completed your fitness and exercise education, training, and certifications. Now it’s time to get a job. Here are 10 tips to kickstart your fitness career as a new graduate.

1. Be Persistent. Be persistent when applying for a job. Research the company and show knowledge and understanding of their mission. Make sure to talk to the right person to get the interview.

2. Be Your Best Sales Rep. “Set yourself up for success by being comfortable with sales, marketing, and training. 3. Be Professional. Show up on time and be the expert. Every moment can be an “interview.” Staying professional will encourage people to hire you again and request repeat services.

4. Have a Social Media Presence.“Today’s market is all about having a presence on social media. You’ve got to be an expert and be able to cross the bridge between multiple venues and also provide content on a multitude of levels. Showcase your opinions and preferences to attract a macro level/audience and develop a following. Your experience and knowledge is worldwide. 6. Offer Incentives. “When your clients are really happy with your services, they will want to refer others. 7. Have Easily Accessible Contact Methods.“Have a website, yelp page, or business card so people know how to contact you and can learn what you offer,” instructs Harris.

8. Continued Education. The learning doesn’t stop after graduation. The fitness industry is a lifelong learning trade. Continue to get further education and use your experiences as learning opportunities.

9. Go the Extra Mile. Go above and beyond what your clients or employer expects of you. Those little extras add up and make people want to come back for more and result in promotions.

10. Find a Mentor. We all get by with a little help from our friends. Finding a mentor can enhance your business, knowledge, expertise, and accountability.
