Kinesiology focuses on the study of human movement. Many kinesiologists apply their knowledge of physical movement with science to help people rehabilitate and/or manage physical ailments so that activity becomes easier again and people can enjoy an active and pain free lifestyle. But the vast job opportunities for kinesiologists don’t stop there.

Get a degree: Attend a college or university which offers an accredited kinesiology program according to the American Kinesiology Association’s guidelines. The programs consist of a 4-year Bachelor’s degree which vary in expertise. Most programs include requirements for field experience in hospitals, clinics, and fitness clubs. Get Certified: After completing your Bachelor’s degree, many people become specialized in a specific area through additional certification. A kinesiology degree can result in pursuing certification as a personal trainer, an occupational therapist, a physical therapist, and more. Therefore, passing additional exams for specific licensure can be obtained and is an option.
- Advanced Education: Other positions require advanced degrees either as a Masters of Science program or a PhD. The American Kinesiology Association has a detailed list of schools with advanced education and graduate programs and assistantships.
