Sports Physical Therapist

The Sports Physical Therapist evaluates and treats athletes and physically active patients recovering from injuries, surgeries, or mobility limitations. This position develops individualized rehabilitation programs to restore movement, reduce pain, prevent future injuries, and help patients safely return to sports and daily activities.

Essential Duties

  • Evaluate sports-related injuries and physical limitations.
  • Develop individualized treatment and rehabilitation plans.
  • Provide therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, stretching, and mobility training.
  • Help patients improve strength, balance, flexibility, coordination, and endurance.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Assist athletes with safely returning to practice and competition.
  • Educate patients on injury prevention, proper body mechanics, and home exercise programs.
  • Work with physicians, athletic trainers, coaches, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and treatment documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, confidentiality, and healthcare regulations.
Qualifications

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from an accredited program.
  • Current state Physical Therapist license.
  • Current CPR or BLS certification.
  • Experience in sports medicine, orthopedics, or rehabilitation preferred.
  • Sports Clinical Specialist certification is preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication, assessment, and patient-care skills.
  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and assist patients during treatment.
