The Harlem YMCA is seeking qualified individuals who will conduct safe, dynamic, fulfilling and effective personal training for members seeking to enhance their conditioning and performance. The Personal Trainer will conduct safe, dynamic, fulfilling and effective personal training for members seeking to enhance their conditioning and performance. The incumbent must be available to work shifts as a floor trainer to conduct Personal Y Fitness appointments and monitor the floor.
Conduct safe, effective and fulfilling personal training sessions for members based on their goals and capabilities, and other relevant information.
Meet/exceed personal client caseload goals.
Maintain current certifications and knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and biomechanics and their relationship to the development of strength, cardiovascular and flexibility programs.
Provide a high degree of service through a professional relationship with members in regards to their needs, concerns, and questions about the YMCA, its programs and its mission.
Meet with client for initial interview and administer required paperwork prior to commencement of fitness assessment.
Notify supervisor of any equipment out of service or in need of repair.
Adhere to the YMCA of Greater New York's Healthy Lifestyles Standards and Guidelines, Personal Training and Fitness Assessment Best Practices.
Maintain familiarity with current fitness trends, protocol, methods and programming.
Demonstrate ability to relate to and work with people of diverse backgrounds.
Have a thorough knowledge of branch emergency procedures and take appropriate action for emergency situations.
Attend training opportunities necessary for the position.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Current Y-USA/NCCA accredited Personal Training certification.
Current CPR/AED/First Aid certifications.
Exceptional customer service skills.
