About the Job
Under the primary supervision of the Director of Membership and Wellness, the Group Exercise Coordinator will be responsible for administrative support to the Wellness Department and assist in the overall operation of Group Exercise Programs including staff supervision, instructor recruitment and training, scheduling and class evaluation.
The Group Exercise Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining the highest level of customer service and professionalism while delivering safe, effective healthy living programs that adhere to all standards, policies and procedures of the YMCA of San Francisco. This position requires strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, excellent problem solving skills and the ability to execute tasks quickly and efficiently, sometimes independently.
The Group Exercise Coordinator will spend 5-10 hours instructing classes as needed and 10-15 hours weekly in an administrative capacity and member engagement or on special projects as assigned; and is expected to work some evenings and sub on weekends as needed.
Minimum 18 years of age.
Current YMCA approved CPR/FA certification.*
Must have nationally recognized Certification in Group Exercise (i.e. AFAA, ACE, ACSM, Y-USA, etc.) or specialty area(s) (i.e. Indoor Cycling, TRX, Les Mills Body Pump etc.)
This position will teach Cycle, TRX and Body Pump classes
Knowledge to teach a variety of classes (minimum of 4 modalities) and an understanding of all classes being taught in the Group Exercise Department.
Minimum 1 year experience in administrative environment
Strong interpersonal communication and computer skills
Ability and desire to interact with participants and staff in a supportive and professional manner.
Flexible availability. May be required to sub classes /shifts on some weekends, and work some special events.
Must be willing to complete specific on-line and in person trainnings within designated time frames.
