Job Description and Requirements
The primary responsibility of this position is to coach CrossFit and other group fitness classes (CrossFit fundamentals, Olympic lifting, etc.) for the Per Ignem CrossFit affiliate in Boston. In addition to running multiple weekly programs and events, this position will be expected to aid in the administrative functions of the affiliate, such as keeping events up to date on our website and in our database, facility and equipment maintenance, promotion events, etc. A connection to The Phoenix Mission is a bonus, but is not required.
Per Ignem CrossFit is a dynamic, creative and fast-paced environment requiring employees to be flexible and able to adapt to an ever-changing environment. Instructors at Per Ignem CrossFit are also expected to aid in administrative functions of the chapter, such as keeping events up to date on our website, facility and equipment maintenance, conducting outreach events, assisting with fundraising efforts, trainings, or other projects that may arise. Weekend and evening hours and the ability to travel in the community are required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES
Coach Multiple classes each week including CrossFit, Fundamentals Courses, Olympic Lifting, etc.
Under supervision of the Per Ignem Manager, facilitate ensure coverage of community and partnership programs as assigned
Work in close collaboration with the Per Ignem CrossFit Gym Manager to oversee facility usage, cleanliness, and maintenance.
Carry out administrative functions , including updating program schedule on our website, conducting outreach events and data entry
Support the achievement of quarterly and annual community programming and partnership goals
Attend and participate in local and national staff meetings, and programming and partnership team meetings
Manage retail and merchandise inventory, restocking, and reordering
Review and respond promptly, accurately and cordially to all inquiries
Contribute to social media through Facebook, twitter and Instagram
All other duties as assigned
CF-L1 or higher-level CrossFit certification preferred
NASM, NSCA, ACSM, or ACE personal trainer preferred
Experience facilitating group fitness programs
Familiarity with other disciplines, including yoga, climbing, running, cycling, etc. is preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to people from all walks of life
Entrepreneurial spirit, humility, and integrity
Minimum High School Education or GED
Certification(s) in one or more disciplines
1-2 Years' experience in program instructions within field of certification
Good organizational and time management skills
Ability to organize trips and events from big picture down to minute details
Ability to manage and progress on multiple tasks within a given day or week.
Demonstrate good verbal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people in a group setting.
Interact positively and comfortably with people from all walks of life, including homeless persons, recently sober individuals, high net worth donors, elected officials, etc.
Possess excellent organizational and communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to quickly adapt to change
Ability to use standard office equipment, computer equipment, and proficient with software including word processing, spreadsheet applications and email
An ability to work in a high-paced, ever-changing environment
Willingness to be flexible with hours, including working early mornings, late evenings, or weekends as needed
