What attracted you to the field of fitness and exercise? I was raised in movement. Dance and fitness are part of my DNA makeup. It is in my blood, it is something I love, and it is what I live. I began ballet at age 3 and it jump started a life time love affair with movement and health. My mother was a full time nurse and part time fitness instructor.  Growing up I would attend her group exercise classes. I started team teaching with my mom at age 14 and loved it. I continued on to earn my AFAA group fitness instructor certification and started teaching early morning Step and Hi-lo aerobics classes throughout high school. My first big career dream when I was growing up was to be a “successful fitness instructor” teaching worldwide and helping others find the joy in movement. I have journals from high school where I described in detail my visions of success in spandex. Teaching group fitness through high school nurtured my passion and I continued on to pursue Dance and fitness in college which affirmed my mission: I was put on this planet to inspire movement and loving life through health. My passion followed me to college at UCDavis where I earned my B.A. in Dance and Communications. In college I taught group fitness, became an ACE certified Personal Trainer, and was a student manager for UCDavis Activities and Recreation center fitness department.

After graduation I hustled in San Francisco to work in fitness full time. It was a successful career, yet burnt me out. Something wasn’t the right fit. So I signed up to earn my Health and Wellness Coach certification and I started to change career paths.

Studying positive psychology and wellness coaching lit a fire in me. I discovered strengths and skills I didn’t know I had. My career blossomed as a result. I developed my own Wellness coaching business based off my unique strengths, talents, and gifts. Over the years I’ve evolved into what I am now – a wellness coach, published author, fitness professional, and community spokesperson with one big mission: to help people develop a positive relationship to self and exercise that adds quality to their lives. Through my Caroline Jordan Fitness business I can help you get your mind, body, and spirit in great shape so you can LOVE your life.

A typical (or not so typical) day in the work-life for you: My day begins with “office hours”, quiet uninterrupted time where I work on important projects and goals. It’s non-negotiable and there is no social media, email, or phone during this time. It’s one of my favorite parts of the day, where I can really focus on meaningful projects and set strong intentions for how I’d like to use the day ahead. I break for breakfast around 9am and catch up on emails or phone calls for 20 minutes afterward. Then I go for a workout, usually a combination of strength training + cardio. After a nice shower and lunch, I’m ready for more. I’ll have meetings or work on corporate wellness consulting projects in the afternoon. Moving into the evening, I work with private coaching clients whom I see virtually (phone or Skype) or in person. My work day ends around 7:30pm and I ease my way into my evening with a quick mediation or foam rolling. I find it’s really important to have a work to life transition to separate the work day from your personal time. During the work week evenings, I’ll share dinner with a friend, attend a charity event around town, or enjoy a lavender Epsom salt bath and a good TED talk.
