What skills were you born with and what skills have you learned along the way?
I was born to lead, motivate, and be a real source of strength for women. Fitness became my reality due to my own health and weight issues in my 20’s. After my first baby, I joined a Bootcamp and I loved the community and support it gave me, but I wanted more and wanted to give back and show women the benefits of working out as a group. I started training women in their homes and after my third child I realized I had built a community but now I need to bring them together. I started out with 6 women, and now I have over 50 women. I get to coach and see transformation on a weekly basis. I also started women’s health and wellness retreats in the San Francisco Bay Area. These events provide women with an opportunity to learn how to create balance and how to nurture and care for themselves in a world of chaos.
I’ve learned to be myself. People like me for the real Amy. My style of training and what I offer isn’t for everyone, and that’s ok. (That took me years to accept). Knowledge is power and it’s important to stay up to date with what’s going on in the industry while staying true to your WHY! Be relatable to your clients.
Your Job Title:
Owner/Founder and Fitness Guru
Company you are with now:
Be Fit Chick
A typical (or not so typical) day in the work-life for you:
A typical day is wake up 4:45 am. Teach 5:30 class. Come home get my three kids ready for school drop off 8:30. Teach 9 am class. Either I go to my other day job, get in a quick workout (26 minutes exactly today), and then I’m off for three afternoon school picks ups at 11:30, 1:30 and 2:40. Then it’s soccer at 4. Tutoring at 5. Teach. Quick dinner (fish and avocados last night). Then the sitter comes, and I rush out to teach my last class at 7 pm. Then off to bed and I barely remember to brush my teeth:)
How did you get your current job in fitness and exercise?
I created it.
What advice do you have for others wanting to be just as successful and fulfilled as you?
If you WANT to be successful, you must take risks, especially the ones that scare you the most. Set goals. Embrace growth. And mistakes will be made. Just learn from everything. Laugh and have fun in your life!!!
If you could be paid for your job with something other than a paycheck, what
would it be?
If I could be paid with something else other than money it would have to be either a coach for my own workouts or a bigger home for my kids and myself.
