Fitness Career Spotlight on Randal Postel, Owner of Integrated-Fitness
Meet Randal Postel, owner of Integrated-Fitness, who found his passion in exercise and started his own fitness center. Believing in yourself and following your dreams can achieve your internal and external success. – Sarah
What attracted you to the field of fitness and exercise? Since a young boy growing up in Grandview, Mo. I wanted to accomplish two things: One become a Ninja and be in exercise and fitness which lead to nutrition along the way. I always associated healthy looking bodies with greater sense of health and well-being and just seemed life seemed to manifest itself better and be more attractive and have others more attracted to one who was health conscious. I feel it truly a gift from the Lord to be given the ability to coach, teach and express clear, safe results oriented exercise and nutrition protocols to have people reach or exceed their goals and lifestyle change both for well-being and physical excellence.

Describe a typical (or not so typical) day in the work-life for you: Up at 4:45a.m. Open gym at 6:00a.m. Meet and greet early customers and spend time mostly interacting with clients giving workout tips changing programs perfecting form and programs. Then writing new exercise plans, cleaning equipment etc. take lunch break at 12:30pm or 1:00 leave for an hour sometimes hour and half to do errands eat. Partner who is the finance Mgr: and sister keeps gym open til my return. Then conduct orientations if any for use of equipment and tours, return calls.
How did you get your current job in fitness and exercise? Owning the facility helps, in securing the job, ha..but seriously I being born in Missouri, migrated after high school to California there over many years getting my education in fitness and nutrition. I spent about 6 years total in Georgia and worked on contract with CDC developing exercise programs for the biochemists. I had great coaches and those that were very instrumental in perfecting my passion for fitness, so I am grateful for those that helped me give feet to that passion to pay it forward.
What skills were you born with and what skills have you learned along the way? I think the foremost skill that stand out is the ability to convey thoughts and idea’s and put them into practical methods that make sense to the individual as each one of us is unique and whole and separate, yet learn and absorb in individual and unique ways according to our make up. So in a nutshell I think the relative word is …relationship!
What I have learned along the way? I think primarily it is teach, coach and relate to the level placed before you. I think respect and caring are certainly the starting point, and I think as you walk a mile in the shoes of dreams, desires and goals of those who seek your expertise, you acquire a sense of mutual seeking that has a natural way and path of pointing to the wisdom needed to lead, educate and inspire excellence in health and wellness…my mission statement as it happens for Integrated-Fitness.
What advice do you have for others wanting to be just as successful and fulfilled as you? Success I think is a relative term. I’ve been involved in fitness and nutrition for a long time and learned as Paul the Apostle said,” To be content in all things, whether with much or little to paraphrase. Having spent many years in California I’ve been better off financially in a more populated area to Georgia and now to wee little Warsaw, Missouri of 2200 people total. Yet, when I secure a moment with just me in a very busy small town and reflect on my purpose and gifts I have been given, I still after all the days I’ve had at perfecting my trade and making the most of each gifted day must ask, “Is what I do making a difference, creating a smile, reaching a goal, completing a dream and sweetening my sleep and at last and best hear in my spirit, “Well done good and faithful servant”. Then fulfillment…..it’s the big easy!
What payment other than paycheck? Just as I said, my Lord saying,” Well done Good and Faithful Servant, come and share in the Joy of My Kingdom”
Enjoy the Journey!
