What attracted you to the field of fitness and exercise? I’ve been athletic and a very active person since I was a child and have always loved sports and living a healthy lifestyle. I discovered the healing benefits of Qigong and yoga and the power of the body to heal if you give it what it needs when I was going through an illness of my own. Exercise was both beneficial for relieving stress, building strength and finding balance during my journey. I wanted to help empower other people to discover their healing ability.
Your Job Title: Holistic Nutrition Coach
Company you are with now: ElleSanté, Owner
Moss Wellness
A typical (or not so typical) day in the work-life for you: I start my day with 10-20 minutes of meditation, Qigong and/or stretching. I work as a Sales Manager in television, licensing the broadcast rights to documentaries worldwide. I also juggle my health coaching practice in functional medicine. I meet with clients to review their health history, symptoms and goals and spend hours putting the pieces of their unique puzzle together getting to the root cause of their symptoms. I focus on thyroid/adrenal, autoimmune, gastrointestinal conditions and emotional eating, supporting people to take back their health in a sustainable way through food and lifestyle changes.
How did you get your current job in fitness and exercise? I studied at The Institute of Integrative Nutrition in NYC to become a Certified Health Coach and then continued my passion in this field at The School of Functional Medicine. I founded my own holistic health coaching practice, ElleSanté, in 2015 and now share an office with an acupuncturist. In September 2016, I joined a team of health coaches at Moss Wellness.
What skills were you born with and what skills have you learned along the way? I was born with the ability to care and connect with other people. I’ve learned that one of the greatest skills and gifts in life is the ability to listen and to make others feel heard. I’ve also learned that communication and the ability to get along with many different people is key.
What advice do you have for others wanting to be just as successful and fulfilled as you? Be kind and patient with yourself as you follow your passion. Keep an open mind, be curious and continue learning from others. Walk the talk and be a role model in your field. Build community and support each other!
If you could be paid for your job with something other than a paycheck, what would it be? Time to travel, whole and delicious food. A place in the mountains or on the ocean.
