Fitness Career Spotlight on Jenna Skora

Jenna Skora is an Independent Team Beachbody Fitness instructor and Zumba instructor who practices what she preaches and inspires her clients with her pep and positive attitude. – Sarah

What attracted you to the field of fitness and exercise? I started on my fitness journey when I was three years old playing soccer and doing gymnastics. Ultimately, I grew to be too tall to continue on with gymnastics so I stuck with soccer for close to 19 years. At the point when I settled down and had children, I knew that fitness would always be there for me to fall back on and my passion came back with doing Insanity and Zumba. I am now an Insanity and Zumba instructor! I love how fitness makes people feel and the results they get from their hard work.

Your Job Title: Health coach, Group fitness, Insanity and Zumba instructor.

A typical (or not so typical) day-in-the-work-life for you? I wake up first thing in the morning and connect with my clients via email, and then I practice for my classes and teach at least times a week.

How did you get your current job in fitness and exercise? I was motivated to get into teaching from my personal coach. She saw something in me that I didn’t even see in myself and asked me if I ever thought about teaching fitness classes. I thought about it and decided that it was something I wanted to do! I took my tests and got certified!

What skills were you born with and what skills have you learned along the way? I certainly was born with social skills. I have a naturally positive attitude that people are drawn to. I have been learning how to talk to people who aren’t ready for fitness yet. My pep sometimes turns people away because they aren’t ready for their journey yet! I am learning to be patient and let my clients know that when they are ready, I will still be there to help them with their goals.

What advice do you have for others wanting to be just as successful and fulfilled as you? No one gets into the fitness industry for the money, because it’s not the highest paying job. The success is in the lives you change. I feel completely fulfilled even if I help just one person. That person’s life could change because of me and my support and that is what keeps me going every day!

If you could be paid for your job with something other than a paycheck, what would it be? Wow what an amazing question. That is a tough one! If I could be paid with something other than money it would be time. More time with my family and more time to help others. Those are the top priorities in my life so more time would be amazing!
