What attracted you to the field of fitness and exercise?
I grew up being an avid athlete and competitive swimmer so it’s been in my blood since I was 4 years old! After successfully running my personal training business, I found that I was getting the same question over and over from mothers, “How do I get rid of my baby weight?” I wanted to create a system that women (even if they weren’t brand new moms) good successfully complete at home. I went back to “class” and got certified in Pre/Post Natal training and created the New Mommy Makeover system. I wanted it to be an entire SYSTEM, so I hired a Registered Dietitian to work hand-in-hand with to create a nutritional guide that goes along with the DVDs. I’m thrilled and honored to share that New Mommy Makeover was reviewed as one of the top six post natal DVDs in Fit Pregnancy Magazine as well as voted the Number 1 post natal fitness DVD from Sheknows.com parenting awards.
Describe a typical (or not so typical) day-in-the-work-life for you: I usually train clients in the morning until early afternoon. I make sure and get my workout in on my lunch break. Then I catch up on paper work, emails, coaching calls, etc. in the afternoon.
How did you get your current job in fitness and exercise? Once I was certified as a personal trainer I took a leap of faith and opened my own company.
What skills were you born with and what skills have you learned along the way? I feel I was born with ability to motivate and inspire others. I’m learning the bookkeeping/business aspects part along the way.
What advice do you have for others wanting to be just as successful and fulfilled as you? Find your passion and share it! Network with others and help them be successful. I’ve learned that it’s not about what people can do for me, but I look for ways to assist them in their business. When you do that it feels so great to do something without expecting anything in return. That’s how you build relationships. Be authentic and real…no B.SJ! Also, create multiple streams of income. I absolutely love being a trainer; however, the income can be somewhat sporadic. And if I’m not training clients I’m not making any money! Life Shotz has been a savior for me in that aspect. In all of my years of being a competitive athlete then owning my own training company, I’ve never endorsed or recommended a product. Life Shotz and LSVIBE blew me away with their clean, natural products that get results! I love sharing and having confidence that these products actually work and have the science backing to prove it!
If you could be paid for your job with something other than a paycheck, what would it be? Massages and Chiropractic care! I love them and think they are so important to keeping your body healthy and fine-tuned!
