Meet Cheryl Farley, Fitness Instructor, Chef, Certified Nutritionist, and TV Host. Her own personal experiences with health and fitness have led her to find her dream job helping others and making the world a better place. Read on to learn how she positively changes the lives of people with type 2 diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and obesity.  – Sarah

 

What attracted you to the field of fitness and exercise?
As a young girl my Dad ran Jack Lalanne’s Health Clubs in California. Because of this, I had the opportunity to meet Jack Lalanne in person, which left a lasting impression on my young mind. At the age of 18, I began working in the Fitness Industry myself teaching classes. Years later, I was introduced to Food as Medicine through a Vegan-Whole Food Plant Based Diet back in 1990. It took my experience of Health and Wellness to a whole new level. Working with hundreds of people over the last 24 years has been the greatest blessing to see people literally reverse the symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes, Hypertension, Heart Disease, Cancer, and Obesity.

Way To Wellness- This company was born out of a desire to make available to the public a 10 Day program designed to help people reverse the symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes while losing weight at the same time. All on a Whole Food Plant Based Diet along with Lifestyle education.

A typical (or not so typical) day in the work-life for you:
I always begin my mornings with prayer and quiet time. Next, I eat a hearty breakfast and dive into what I have on my agenda for the day. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings I teach Water Aerobics to a Senior group. Because my husband and I teach onsite Seminars for Reversing Diabetes and Losing Weight Naturally, I am usually planning our next session or following up with our former class members for monthly support group meetings. I also do live video streams for ongoing support to help by offering new recipes.

 

How did you get your current job in fitness and exercise?
In 2000, I visited a local spa and fell in love with the facility. I was hired to teach and have been there since.

Having worked 2 years at an in-patient Wellness Center gave me valuable insight and real life experiences that prepared me for what I have been doing for the last 20 years.

 

What skills were you born with and what skills have you learned along the way?
I believe that my passion and talent for teaching and connecting with people is part of my genetic makeup. Over the years I have learned to become more patient and determined when it comes to projects that seem to not get off the ground. Organizing skills have been best learned through my real life experiences.

 

What advice do you have for others wanting to be just as successful and fulfilled as you?
Never give up! On a side note, 5 years ago I was diagnosed with End Stage Chronic Lyme disease. Nothing could have prepared me for the journey I took to recover my health. In a wheelchair, having seizures, and losing my speech, landed me in a clinic for 5 weeks where my life was spared. It took several years after to rebuild my immune system and be back to optimal health and doing what I love… helping people! I will never take my own health for granted and encourage others to do the same. We never know. Because of this, I am involved in the Lyme Community helping facilitate Support Groups.

 

If you could be paid for your job with something other than a paycheck, what  would it be?
Seeing untold numbers of people healthy and happy!!!
