What attracted you to the field of health and wellness? I’ve always been a super active person and shared a passion for helping others.  I decided at a young age, I wanted to go into the business of helping others live a healthy and active lifestyle.  With my love for these things combined with sports and competitions, I knew personal training was the perfect fit for me.  It allows me to help people of all health and fitness levels reach any goal they are trying to attain, and also help athletes work toward their competition goals.  We have one life and one body to live it in and I love helping myself and others live it the best to their ability.

A typical (or not so typical) day-in-the-work-life for you: Get up at 4:00am and prepare for first class of the day at 5:00am.  I teach a bootcamp class from 5-6am.  From there I will go home and work on my online nutritional and personal training clients by returning emails, creating plans, etc.  Throughout the day I have one-on-one personal training clients that vary mid day and some in the evenings.  I am currently working on opening another time for my bootcamp that will consist of an evening class to accommodate those not able to get up and meet at 5am.

How did you get your current job in health and wellness? Once I received my PT certification i worked in a big gym working with clients and teaching indoor cycling classes.  After a few years I decided I wanted to go out and work for myself and that is when I was introduced to Texas Fit Chicks where they support you and help you start and continue to grow, but they also allow you a sense of running your own business within their guidelines  Once I submitted my audition tape and completed my orientation, I have been enjoying the life as a TFC trainer.

What skills were you born with and what skills have you learned along the way? I feel I was born with the physical skills I currently still have today, as well as my health that allows me to be a good example for those that struggle finding this inside themselves.  Along the way, I have learned more about different individuals and what motivates them, and how to incorporate that in their training. Being a personal trainer is majority about training someone’s physical being, but a big part of it is training their mental health as well.

What advice do you have for others wanting to be just as successful and fulfilled as you? Take the time to believe in yourself and take care of yourself is #1.  If you can do that, you will be able to help others more effectively and lead by example.  People like to see trainers practice what they preach and show that they truly care about them as a person and not just a dollar sign walking through the door.  This will help them build relationships and retain clients for a longer time.

If you could be paid for your job with something other than a paycheck, what would it be? My health and the appreciation of the clients I get to work with.  Seeing people change for the better and being able to do things they couldn’t do before is worth way more than a paycheck.
