Job Description and Requirements

The Strength & Conditioning Specialist / Therapist is under the direction of the Director of Performance Medicine, and with supervision from the Strength and Conditioning Advisor, Senior Head Coach, support Head Coaches and Supervisors of Performance Medicine, as well as in partnership with the artists; in the development, implementation, documentation, monitoring, and assessment individualized and group training programs for the artists in the show. Promote injury prevention, maintenance, and performance enhancement; to insure longevity of performance career and increased recovery times.

Reporting to the Strength & Conditioning Supervisor:

Under the direction of the Director of Performance Medicine apply care, prevention and rehabilitation services for Artists. Offer curative treatments, therapeutic interventions, and plans of care and ensure all practices meet requirements of Federal, State, and Civil Authorities. Offer only treatments and services within scope of practice.
Strength and Conditioning Specialist duties:
· coordinate with Director of Performance Medicine, Senior Head Coach, Strength and Conditioning Advisor, Supervisors of Performance Medicine, or Head Coach to assess the needs for the physical training of individual artists and performance enhancement needs of an act
· based on the directions from the Health Services Manager, Health Services Supervisor or Head Coach: develop, implement, and monitor injury prevention or performance enhancement programs
· identify and report conditioning, de-conditioning, and injury trends at show as requested
· objectively assess, measure, adjust, and document all programs implemented;
· maintain an individualized filing system and document all programs implemented;
· develop criteria based post analysis report of each conditioning program to measure efficacy of the program and whether objectives were met;
· administer or assist in physical capacity assessments
· assist Supervisors of Performance Medicine with the development of reintegration protocols of an injured or ill artist
· assist Head Coaches with the development of integration protocols for new artist
· support the S&C Advisor in collaborating with the IHQ's Performance Medicine and Coaching staff, to ensure the continuity of the process of physical training from the training environment to the show for new artists;
· assess innovative ways of using time and work with the existing artist's schedule to integrate portions or all of the prescribed programs within the weekly working schedule.
· establish with the artists a system which would help to sustain motivation in this domain;
· have knowledge of workload assessment for each artist or act that participates in a conditioning program
· develop an educational program that will help to increase artist's awareness of different variables pertaining to the training program's methods and encourage autonomy in artists when it comes to carrying out their physical fitness program;
· use modern training methods (e.g. Pilates, resistance training, plyometrics), and design training methods that meet the needs of artists;

Floater Therapist duties:
· Attend training periods, rehearsals & performances for the purpose of administering first aid & the appropriate emergency measures I the event of injury/crisis involving artist/employee.
· Work in close cooperation with other member of the emergency team, in case of injury or medical emergency
· Participate in the decision-making process concerning changes made to training or performances in the event of injury or illness of an artist or any other occurrence that might cause modifications to the normal process of training or performance.
· Maintain and update daily the medical file of each artist using the forms and databases prescribed by CdS.
· Prepare the daily report that summarizes the overall medical status of the cast members.
· Complete the insurance forms required for filing insurance claims for injured or sick artists.
· When an artist must seek medical consultation outside of CdS, the Therapist: 1) must ensure the transmission of information between the professional concerned and the Supervisor of Performance Medicine, Company Manager, the HR Project Coordinator, the Artistic Director; 2) must collect all pertinent documents (prescriptions, x-rays, reports…) resulting from or needed for this consultation; 3) must document and file all relevant information related to the consultation.
· Provide care, prevention and rehabilitation as directed by the Director of Performance Medicine, or the Supervisors of Performance Medicine
· All other duties as assigned by the Director of Performance Medicine

Qualifications

University degree in physical therapy, athletic training, kinesiology, physical education or any other related field.; with corresponding state AT or PT license. Advanced certifications in the areas of strength and conditioning.
Minimum 4 years experience in care, prevention and rehabilitation; as well as in developing and implementing injury prevention, maintenance or performance enhancement programs with athletes or performers.
Must have abilities to hold Athletic Training or Physical Therapy license in the state of Nevada. Must have advanced credentials of either a Performance Enhancement Specialist or a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
Must have a working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
